Glorious summer sunshine lights up the quartzite tops of Beinn Eighe, of Torridon's greatest climbing adventures.

Torridon, which stretches dramatically westwards and southwards from the village of Kinlochewe, is renowned for the wonderful climbing and walking offered by its ancient mountains, lochs and glens. Liathach (pronounced Lee-a-gach), Beinn Alligin, Slioch and Beinn Eighe are the most visited mountains by those bent on the severe - at times dangerous - challenges of climbing in this region.

For those seeking equally spectacular, but somewhat less vigorous, exploration of this wonderful landscape, many of Scotland's finest walks are on offer.  W.H.Murray, one of Scotland's most respected mountaineers - and an author of great repute on Scotland's amazing landscapes - reckons the ten mile walk to Torridon from Lochcarron to be the finest available anywhere. Loch Maree, of course is also legendary.

It was from the shore of Loch Coulin -with Coulin Lodge both prominently and romantically situated at its western end - that this stunning panorama to Beinn Eighe was captured. The light in Torridon can be magical, even in the worst of weathers, but this morning it was crystal clear and superb sunshine highlighted every feature of this breathtaking area of north-west Scotland.
